Leader: David Goode
Please notify the leader (contact details in your newsletter or recent email to BathNats members) if you plan to attend, stating how many WWT members (with free admission) and non-members are included, and whether non-members qualify for the over 65 age reduction. Adaptations to Covid mean visits must be booked in advance. If the paying group size is sufficient a concessionary rate will apply. The leader will recover entry charges from individuals.
Meet: at 10.30. am in the large car park at the WWT Centre. Car-share very desirable. Entrance is free for WWT members, but there is a charge for others.
Finish: 15.30 at Slimbridge.
Focus: Migratory wetland birds, concentrating on waders such as ruff, green sandpipers, greenshank, redshank, godwits and lapwing.
Description: We will visit a number of hides, including the summer route along the edge of the estuary, with its new estuary hide. We can expect to see the Slimbridge cranes on the saltings, and possibly peregrines hunting. Learning the calls of different waders will be one of our objectives. Bring a packed lunch or visit the cafeteria. Although we stay on paths, stout shoes are required, and waterproofs may be needed.
