Leaders: Clare and Mark Kitchen
Start: 11:00 Finish: Approx. 16:00
Meet: Car park near the ranger’s house, GR ST 746881, Landranger 172/Explorer 167
Focus: General interest but especially plants and insects of ancient woodland.
Description: A joint meeting with the botany section of Gloucestershire Naturalists’ Society. Ancient woodland enclosing meadows and clearings on the site of a medieval hunting forest. We will come across a number of plants rarely seen about Bath, such as Saw-wort, Sneezewort, Bush-grass and perhaps Violet Helleborine. If the weather is good there should be Silver-washed Fritillaries, White Admiral and Purple Hairstreak on the wing.
Please book with the Leader in advance. Members can find contact details in their Spring and Summer 2023 newsletter. This has several benefits for all meetings: the Leader is aware who is coming and can deal with any queries before the meeting (such as car-sharing, if required); in the unlikely event that arrangements need to change or the meeting has to be cancelled, attendees can all be contacted promptly and easily.
If you have booked but then are unable to attend, please contact the leader as soon as possible. The leader can then contact other members if there is a waiting list.
