Meeting place: Tinkley Gate NT car park, Explorer 168 (SO 813 005).
Betwixt Nympsfield and Nailsworth: after passing through Nympsfield, drive along Tinkley Lane and look for the obvious NT sign on the left (nearest post code GL10 3UH, carry on until seeing NT sign). Parking is £3 and free to NT members. Café and toilets are here.
Focus: Birds, birdsong, flora and fauna within open grassland and a deep valley.
Description: We may see/hear warblers, water birds including Kingfisher and raptors including Red Kite. There is a wide range of wildflowers in the varied habitats and invertebrates should be in abundance, nectaring on the flowers or acting in a predatory manner. We will look to members to contribute their expertise. After exploring the wildflower meadows at the top of the valley (easy level footpaths), we shall drive down to the lower car park in the valley avoiding the red route footpath which is very steep and potentially muddy. Bring a packed lunch. Strong footwear recommended, some difficult terrain including steps, wheelchair accessibility difficult. Site can be exposed: bring wet weather gear and suntan cream.
