Meeting place: Elm Farm, Burnett, near Keynsham, BS31 2TF. Explorer 155 (ST 665 652) From A39 turn right onto B3116 to Burnett. Elm Farm is signposted along a track to the left. From Keynsham take B3116 south to Burnett, turn right at crossroads. Then take turning on left into the farm. Car parking on site.
Focus: Moth identification and recording.
Description: A moth trap will be run overnight. It is then opened in the morning to view, identify, and record the moths. This is a good opportunity for those with little knowledge of moths and moth trapping to witness the array of species which can be trapped at a site. After being examined, the moths either fly off themselves or are gently released into nearby shrubs.
Tea/coffee is kindly provided by the host.
Please book with the Leader in advance. Members can find contact details in their Spring/Summer 2024 newsletter. This has several benefits for all meetings: the Leader is aware who is coming and can deal with any queries before the meeting (such as car-sharing, if required); in the unlikely event that arrangements need to change or the meeting has to be cancelled, attendees can all be contacted promptly and easily.
If you have booked but then are unable to attend, please contact the leader as soon as possible. The leader can then contact other members if there is a waiting list.
