Finish: Approx 13:00 in Avebury or 16:45 Barbury Castle.
Focus: Farmland/downland birds including tree sparrow, corn bunting and raptors including red kite. Possibility of short-eared owl. Also brown hare.
Description: Avebury – walk from car park into village and up sloping track/footpath towards Fyfield Down on rough tracks across grassland. Bring a packed lunch to eat at Avebury. Barbury Castle – a short drive to the second location, walking sloping footpaths/tracks. Many birds, including raptors, can be seen close to the car parking area. Barbury Castle is an Iron Age fort, on a high exposed site.
Dress with layers of warm clothing, waterproofs and stout walking boots. Walking pole may be helpful.
